Gulf Hills Golf Club
has been an important part of the Mississippi Gulf Coast golfing community for over 70 years.

We offer lush fairways and manicured greens in a climate where hard winters and suffocating summers are unknown. Here the roses bloom year round, the trees are always green and the sun shines an average of 300 days a year.

Located on Fort Bayou, our rolling hills carry you through our beautiful residential community. You will be enchanted with our well manicured, velvet greens complimented by the ever present, gentle gulf breeze.

Over hill and dale, through forests and streams, Jack Daray carved one of the handsomest and sportiest 18 hole golf courses in the South.

Public Play Welcome!

The 17th hole was once regarded by Golf Digest as one of the top 5 most beautiful and challenging in the entire Southeastern Region.

  Our History
In 1927, the Branigar brothers, from Chicago, IL, developed Gulf Hills. This was to be a resort like no other in it's era. This was accomplished with an absolutely beautiful golf course, clubhouse and 13 upscale homes.

The original 13 homes were built with no kitchens and no laundry facilities. Residents of this exclusive community took all meals at the clubhouse, and even their laundry was picked up and returned clean and folded by clubhouse employees.

Legend has it that the resort was developed especially for the seclusion and entertainment  of Chicago crime figure, Al Capone.  In fact, remnants of a "Speak Easy" and Gambling Casino still remain.

In the clubhouse was a fabulous lounge called "The Pink Pony". Photos show many movie stars, gangsters and members of the "upper crust" enjoying drinks, dancing and entertainment. Elvis Presley frequented The Pink Pony and loved to play the piano and just relax in this comfortable and secure atmosphere.

During this time, the course was so popular that tee times were actually auctioned off to the highest bidder the night before.

In the 50's and 60's Gulf Hills was not only a first rate golf course, but a Dude Ranch as well. It became very popular for horseback riding, hay rides, square dancing and swimming.

Throughout the past 72 years Gulf Hills has been bought and sold many times. It seems everyone wanted to own a piece of history. In July of 1998, the residents purchased Gulf Hills and have restored and returned it to it's original splendor. The resident owners take great pride in Gulf Hills Golf Club and continually upgrade and beautify the grounds. They strive to preserve the history and protect the integrity of Gulf Hills.
